  • Remove and strip major vehicle systems such as engines, drivetrains, and steering units to evaluate condition and functionality
  • Restore vehicle operation by refurbishing or installing components in accordance with manufacturer specifications and technical guidelines
  • Carry out routine vehicle servicing tasks to maintain reliability, fuel efficiency, and emissions compliance
  • Rebuild and refit mechanical systems once repair work has been completed, ensuring accuracy and long-term performance
  • Assess repair outcomes by running tests and making necessary adjustments to confirm correct operation
  • Operate electronic diagnostic equipment to analyse faults and validate repair solutions
  • Review vehicle safety and condition, preparing compliance reports or identifying further work required to meet road standards

Task & responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance to keep vehicles operating efficiently and within environmental standards
  • Use electronic testing systems and diagnostic software to detect faults and confirm repair requirements
  • Inspect vehicles to evaluate overall safety, condition, and compliance with roadworthiness regulations, documenting required rectification work where necessary
  • Disassemble key mechanical assemblies, including engines, transmission systems, and steering components, to assess wear and operational condition
  • Repair, overhaul, or replace damaged components by following manufacturer instructions and technical reference materials
  • Reassemble vehicle systems and components after repairs, ensuring correct fitment and reliable operation
  • Test vehicles and mechanical systems following repair work, making fine adjustments to optimise performance
  • Analyse mechanical and electrical issues by examining vehicle systems and determining root causes of faults

Qualification & experience

  • Relevant trade qualifications are preferred
  • A minimum of one year of hands-on experience as a Motor Mechanic or in a related role
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair a wide range of automotive systems
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with solid technical capability
  • High attention to detail with effective troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team
